The largest TV component by area on Sony OLED TVs, the rear cover, is made out of SORPLASTM, a proprietary recycled plastic developed by Sony, which cuts down on the use of virgin plastic by about 60%. Sony's own recycled plastic, known as SORPLAS, is created from used water bottles, used optical discs, and a special flame retardant. It has a long usable lifespan, a small environmental impact, and can be recycled multiple times to cut waste and support a society that values recycling.
